Might as well chime in. Not long ago I looking for a new G19 for carry. I had a choice of a Gen 3 or a Gen 4, I picked the Gen 3, for only one reason. The rough texture on the Gen 4 grip was too aggressive for my taste. When I carry I wear a compression Under Armor t-shirt. I'm sure the grip surface would wear through the shirt in short order. Should the grip be on the skin I would guess it would abrade the skin and become unconfortable. The Gen 4 grip felt good in my hands, but I carry a lot more than I shoot.

Thanks Ricco....it seems to me that there isn't really a big difference between the two..just cosmetic features mostly....

I really don't notice the grip when carrying mine against bare skin. I do believe it may be a bit rougher than a Gen 3 but not enough to bother me.
I seem to notice the roughness when gripping the gun. I have thought about sanding the back strap a bit to try and relieve that feel a bit.
I think a lefty would like a Gen 4 better but that is just my thoughts.

How come the switch?

I started carrying my Glocks right after I got the first one. A G17.
My beloved Ruger is now in my sons collection of famous firearms. LOL
I do love the Rugers and shoot best with them but I got the Glock and it performs well enough for me and I kind of like the trigger on the Glock better than a DA/SA.
The main reason for the switch is my son liked the ruger too and since he is in Colorado I decided to pass it onto him before the big ban.
