With the controversy over at another forum, I thought about posting this there. But since I have a feeling it would be like beating my head against a brick wall, I thought maybe it would be good to post it here instead.
I think as we post, we need to consider who could read it, and if what we post leads to the type of atmosphere/image we want for our forum.
Easiest way I can come up with, is to ask "who would I invite to come read this forum, and would I be embarrassed by what they find?"
For example, our pastor is big into hunting - he bought some acreage when he moved to KS, just so he could have a place to go hunting. I haven't talked to him about concealed carry yet, but to be honest, I would be embarrassed to direct him to the .com forum.
Same thing with several other Christian professionals I know who are interested in getting a KS CCL. I have not recently directed anyone to that forum as the garage outweighs the useful information, IMHO.
Other people you could think of might be your daughter, or a friend's daughter, your mother, your boss, or our legislators.
I see nothing wrong with humor, but it needs to be of the sort that occurs in an adult Sunday School class, or a business meeting with customers present, not a junior high boys' locker room.
We should strive for a professional image, people who appear to be able to control their tempers and act responsibly.

Everyone with a CCH license is who I would invite. The way to keep it wholesome is to manage.
Everyone wanting a CCH license also.
There will be the need to chastise occasionally. Lord knows I have needed it a time or two.
Foul language has become too much a part of our every day existence.
So here I say it should be looked at in the manner used and corrected always.
That includes myself.

If it were for the KSCCW site, I wouldn't invite my grannies. Some are pretty "salt"; mine weren't. But you didn't cross them either.

For some, they can't see the problem, but it turns off a lot of folks. I know several church going people who are interested in guns, but I'd be ashamed to have them see some of the stuff that is said on other forums. I don't expect this place to be church, but neither does it need to offend people who don't want their minds to be polluted.

You don't really see how crass and rude the .com has gotten until you step away for awhile and then go back and read it....we dont need that here...there are plenty of ways to get your point across without being vulgar...

I don't miss .com nor do I speak about it to anyone. I still see everyone frequenting it though. Must be the best forum ever LOL
