Just occurred to me. When I used to carry sans holster. If I hid the gun behind the back I always would put it in the waist band backwards to what is standard for a 4 0'clock carry holster. it too was faster than I could draw from a CCH holster such as the CBST.
The why I have figured out is because it was a more natural move even going behind the back to have my hand get a grip on the gun with a no drag draw.
It too was as easy as pulling from the front.
But the reason I carried up front was because if I was in a fight. Which when younger I could count on.
You will be knocked off your feet before you feel the need to go to the gun.
That is if you are a true fighter.
You have a much harder time drawing from a holster or even sans holster when you are on your back.
Especially if an assailant is on top of you pounding away.
If you are in that situation you are better off going to fighting like the guy pounding you is fighting.
Punch them in the throat what ever it takes to get them off you then go to boots. A gun isn't needed in a fist fight.
But the same scenario may happen with a gun or knife. You are knocked down and then you have to deal with your opponent have a weapon that you must defend yourself from. If it is a knife it is time to go to your guns. Or your knife if that is all you have.
I always got by with just going to plain old mean and fighting like a badger.
Now I am old I am going to guns when on my back by an aggressor who is going to beat me to death.
The gun is the only thing I can do other than recall how mean I could get as a kid.
The younger fighter will prevail. Unless the old man can get the gun out and change the game.
So in carrying a gun you better figure on needing it with a younger person that can take your old butt out. Old man laying on his gun in a holster is going to get beaten to death by younger thug. Who has no mercy.
