That was some storm last night! Guess Hutchinson & Pretty Prairie got some huge hail. We got high wind and lots of rain, thunder & lightning. The wind shook the house more than I remember in a long time. Lost our power from about 10pm last night until about 5pm today. I'm glad it came back on when it did, hopefully, everything I had in our chest freezer survived. Now to clean out the side-by-side refrigerator and restock it. (I moved some of the stuff to the freezer this morning, to cut down on the food loss.)

We basically seen nothing here. Heard Hutch got pounded with hail. Hope you didn't lose much in food over the power outage.

Didn't lose too much food. The freezer at least kept it refrigerator temp. I didn't bother moving some stuff that had been in the side-by-side for years, figured it was a good time to clean it out. Some stuff that I didn't get moved back out of the freezer before it froze the food might end up getting tossed later, just depends on what it looks like after it gets thawed. We were thinking TrailerDwarf might have to come and try to get the generator going to keep the freezer going, if the power outage lasted any longer.

Just made the dust mad here. We got enough this morning to make the weeds grow again.

It headed right for us (the stuff from Hutch) , then split ... it was west of us and east of us, and we could sit here and see the reports, see it on radar, and then it was regrouping after it went around us. We appreciated that. Hail north, east, west and south of us... but none here.
A bit like that tornado that was on the ground.... headed for our house and this edge of the town.... then 1/2 mile south of us, it lifted up ...... went over, literally right down the other side of the street, and then went back down once it crossed the highway..... taking stuff all along with it before and after ... passing us.

We didn't get any hail that I know of, we were sort of hoping we'd get enough to total out my car that is parked outside. It has an undiagnosed engine problem, we'd just as soon the insurance company bought it. Oh, well.

Would that car be the chrysler? Every time I see a Dodge I think I want. I get out my dictionary. I look up dodge and it says to avoid.

Would that car be the chrysler? Every time I see a Dodge I think I want. I get out my dictionary. I look up dodge and it says to avoid. Yes. It only has 170,699 miles on it. However, our Dodge Caravan has 219,558 and our Dodge Ram has 234,627 so I wouldn't knock all Dodge products. We were already planning on selling the PT, because I've found that my health problems make it much more difficult to drive a manual transmission. For some reason, the guys can't drive it without stalling the engine. Since we own 6 vehicles, figured we ought to whittle the fleet down a bit.

Every brand car has its fans. I was an Olds guy growing up. GM did away with the olds engines I switched to ford and have great results with them.

Since GM did away with Olds and Pontiac; and became Government Motors...I have nothing to do with them(when it comes to new cars). Will I buy a classic? Heck, ya! In fact, I've a '49 AD pickup in the works right now and the rod will sport a 2001 5.3L motor. The last Pontiac we just traded off had 257,000+ miles. I really wish I had the '69 Bonneville 2dr. hardtop we had when I was a kid. 400 c.i./400THD. She was a cruiser.
As for trucks, nothing but Ford for me. My dad has gone to the darkside(GM) and my grandparents were nothing by Chrylser.
Anyhow...I think with exceptions...a vehicle will last you as long as you maintain it no matter the make. There does come a point when you have to determine if the repairs/maintenance are worth it or not.

My issue with Dodge has always been the wiring of them. Or the seat adjuster springs fail just little things.
My Ford F150 with 300,000 miles on it is now sidelined until I get a new gas tank for it. The original rusted out where the tie strap goes on the corner.
Tried to patch it and no go on that.
They all cost some money to maintain.

What I don't like is what should be a simple repair turns into a major project because of how tight the engine compartment is nowadays. Not sure that there are any that aren't that way anymore. Makes it difficult for a home mechanic to do many of the repairs that are needed. TrailerDwarf used to do most of our mechanical work, but between his health, lack of time, and the fact that what should be a simple repair now requires pulling out the engine, we're having to hire auto mechanics to fix our cars. At least for our Audi & VW, he's found someone who seems to know his stuff. Not cheap, of course, but we feel like he's honest and knows what he's doing. That guy won't work on anything other than Audis & VWs, so the other vehicles we own are the most likely to get sold off.

It's the same for most vehicles, nowadays. The whole frontend is one big "cradle" they drop out to work on the engine. With F250's, they pop the cab off the frame to get to the engine.

Modular builds. The thing I remember about the older Dodges, was always transmission problems. I've seen my brother's and other's experience with Chevy trucks, and not that excited by them. I have one made by Ford, and no real issues, but want a "bigger one". Dodge trucks, I don't know ... but I do like the 350 Cummings diesel version, just can't afford it.
At work they used to have debates about who had the "biggest" truck, and I thought it got so absurd hearing it at every turn, I decided it had to be compensating for something.... because none of them used a truck, for a truck. I use a truck , as a truck... and for things trucks were made for.

Have a niece that bought a new Dodge cummings. It too has wiring issues that make it impossible to pull any trailer with it that is wired standard.
It too has had some transmission problems.
Like I said earlier to me dodge means to avoid.
