This is a 300 six no doubt. They are easy to rebuild except for one issue. They really wear the cylinders out. You should tear it down and check the wear to see if that is the case. The bad part is they usually wear more than the .060 they can be bored.
There is always a chance though this one didn't wear that badly.
Drain the fluids out of it and take the hood off and get to tearing down.

You can stand that up on end in a tire if you remove the flywheel.
Rebuilt many an engine that way myself.

It will be fun to build it up. Just mic the cylinders and crankshaft bearings. Install new cam bearings and a new cam shaft and of course take the head into a shop and get it redone.
Use moly rings in it when you put it back together they will not wear a cylinder bore out like the old cast iron rings did.

If it still runs listen to the piston slap with a screw driver press up against the block. You will hear it if it is plumb loose in there.

I would suggest getting a Haynes manual and reading up on that engine a bit. Or Motors manual.
I have never rebuilt that Ford 6 but have seen plenty of them apart.
Most of my experience is with V8 motors from Ford or Oldsmobile. Oh and a crap load of chevy engines.
I do know those 6 cylinder ford engines run until they are plumb worn out.
It will be a learning experience for you and your daughter. That in itself is going to be a fun thing. However you go about it.
